Updates to videos

Video 3: Note that the Cru Bourgeois classification is now reviewed every five years and applies to the château, not an individual wine.

Video 4: Bourgogne Côte d’Or is an additional recently introduced regional appellation in Burgundy.

Video 5: While the video states that there is currently no official labelling scheme to indicate the level of sweetness in a wine, this has now been resolved. As of the 2021 harvest, all Alsace producers must now indicate the level of sweetness of their wine on the back label. The sweetness terms are standardised and defined by EU regulation.

Video 6: This video does not detail the geographic hierarchy for PDO wines that was introduced in 2021. For details, see Understanding Wines: Explaining Style and Quality, Issue 2.

Video 9: The wines of Santorini PDO must be made primarily from Assyrtiko.

Video 10: In addition to meeting all the DOC requirements, DOCG wines must meet stricter regulations and in most cases be bottled within the area of production (it is not a tasting from the Ministry of Agriculture that separates DOCG from DOC).

Video 12: Note that Designated Viticultural Areas (DVAs) are now simply called ‘appellations’ in Understanding Wines: Explaining Style and Quality; Issue 2; the term DVA is now less widely used.

Video 13: Note that Argentina and New Zealand have established GI systems, see Understanding Wines: Explaining Style and Quality, Issue 2, for details. Additionally, the map of South Africa in this video does not show the recently designated Cape Town district.
